ELIGIBILITY/TYPE OF EVENT:  Non-competitive, non-timed.  Walk, jog or run at your own pace.  It is open to all and families are encouraged to participate.  Children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  Everyone participating MUST register on the Year Round Walk sheet.  This event normally will be held regardless of weather conditions.

STARTING POINT:  Houston Museum of Natural Science

STARTING POINT ADDRESS:  5555 Hermann Park Dr, Houston. TX  77030

DIRECTIONS: Drive into Houston from the south, take Main Street north. Turn right on Hermann Drive; right on Caroline Street; right on Hermann Park Drive.

Parking: Lot E, near Hermann Park Zoo, on Hermann Park Drive. Walk back to the Museum. Parking near the Museum of Naturatual History or the McGovern Centennial Garden is mostly reserved. Parking is available on some of the side streets.

START and FINISH TIMES:  Start between 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM - no late starts. Books will be stamped at the start.  Volunteers will not be available at the end of the walk; may stamp on your own as a regular Year Round. The sign-in will be on the sidewalk across from the museum; if there is light rain, we have permission to locate in the entrance to the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

DISTANCE:  10km/5km (6.2mi/3.1mi)

AWARD:  IVV credit event.

TRAIL DESCRIPTION: Trail is rated 1A. Some of the trails on walk may not be suitable for wheelchairs and /or strollers. Restrooms are located in the Museum of Natural Science grand hallway, before entrance fees are collected. Along the route, restrooms are available at the Japanese Gardens and at the Miller Outdoor Theater.

Much of the walk is through Hermann Park but some is on streets through the Medical Center. There will be traffic - cars, human and the Metro Rail train - so please be careful of traffic and cross streets with the lights.

REFRESHMENTS:  Bring your own water.

REGISTRATION & FEES:  Participation fee is $4.00. PLEASE BRING EXACT CHANGE. No refunds for failure to participate. Register on the Year Round Sign-In Sheet at the start.
