Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site is the location for the Star of the Republic Museum, Independence Hall and Barrington Living History Farm. It was the site fo the 1836 General Convention which would decide the fate of Texas. W-o-t-B State Historic Site is revered as the site of the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence on March 2, 1836. Washington remained a town of some prominence in early Texas until the eve of the Civil War. The park encompasses the site fo the historic town (1836). It was the first county seat of Washington County in 1836, the capitol of Texas from 1842 to 1845, and the home of the last president of the Republic of Texas, Anson Jones. It is the seat of the Texas independence.
ELIGIBILITY/TYPE OF EVENT: Non-competitive, non-timed. Walk, jog or run at your own pace. It is open to all and families are encouraged to participate. Children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Everyone participating MUST register and carry a Start Card and turn it in at the FINISH. This event normally will be held regardless of weather conditions.

DIRECTIONS: From Houston: Take Hiway 290 West to Hiway 6 at Hempstead. Take Hiway 6 North to Navasota. From Navasota, take Hiway 105 West 7 miles and turn left on FM 1155; follow to the Site.
From Austin: Take Hiway 290 East to Brenham. In Brenham, take Business Route 290 to Hiway 105 East. Go 14 miles, turn right on FM 912. FM 912 becomes FM 1155, follow to the Site.
From Dallas/Waco: Take I-35 to Hiway 6 South to Navasota. From Navasota, take Hiway 105 West y miles and turn left on FM 1155, follow to the Site.
From San Antonio: Take I-10 East to Hiway 77 North and then take Hiway 290 East to Brenham.
From Brenham: Take Hiway 105 East 14 miles, then right on FM 912. FM 912 becomes 1155, follow to the Site.
START/FINISH TIMES: Start between 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon; finish by 3:00 PM.
DISTANCE: 10km/5km (6.2/3.1mi) walk, with a second time on the same Start Card permitted.
AWARD: This is a B Medal event. A supply of awards from previous events will be available.
TRAIL DESCRIPTION: The trail is rated 1B. Trails are not paved and may be difficult for wheel chairs. Leashed pets are welcome. No pets in park facilities.
REFRESHMENTS: Water will be available at the Start/Finish and the checkpoints.
REGISTRATION & FEES: No pre-registration. B Award and IVV credit is $4.00; IVV credit-only is $3.00 on day of the walk. IVV record books will be available for $5.00. Everyone is welcome. You may walk for free; however, donations are appreciated to help defray costs. Event takes place rain or shine. NO REFUNDS for failure to participate.
